- 30 October - The BBC Radio comedy The Men from the Ministry is first aired.
- Unknown - The Pilkington Committee on Broadcasting publishes its report. The Report recommended that the BBC should extend its activities to the creation of local radio stations in order to prevent the introduction of commercial radio.
