- Independence achieved
The Bangladesh Liberation War breaks out between East Pakistan and West Pakistan, the 2 sudivisions of Pakistan postBritish India. Lasting for nine months, the entire Liberation War ended with the surrender of (West) Pakistan's military to the Bangladesh-India Allied Forces at Dacca on 16 December 1971. The formal establishment of the independent nation of Bangladesh was on same day. [1]
