The 1992–94 FIRA Trophy was arranged with a new format. Ten teams were admitted to first division and divided into 2 pools to play a "Preliminary Tournament" which qualified five teams to play for the title in the 1993-1994 season.

Pool for Title
Italy very nearly won their first tournament, beating a non-capped France side for the first time by 16-9, but lost in Bucarest to Romania, and so France won the title on points.
