AM Aesthetic are an alt/rock band originally from Connecticut, now based in New York City[1] and consist of Rob Suchecki (vocals/guitars), Patrick Raimondi (bass) and RJ Dowhan (drums).
Background
Rob Suchecki and Patrick Raimondi started playing in bands together in rural Connecticut. Rob’s uncle had been giving him guitar lessons on a miniature acoustic since he was 8 years old and Patrick had discovered his dad’s 1950s Epiphone guitar. Patrick gravitated towards the bass and, with a mutual love of punk, blues and alternative rock borne from the likes Oasis, Smashing Pumpkins, Green Day and Nirvana. Patrick and Rob spent the next ten years performing shows in bars even though they were underage.
In 2009, after writing and recording their first EP, (AM)bivalence, as AM Aesthetic, the duo used the internet to look for a drummer. RJ Dowhan, a fellow Connecticut native, was selected. RJ found his passion for drumming from his two older brothers, one of whom played the drums. Being that the drum kit was set up lefty, RJ learned to play it as such, despite being right-handed. AM Aesthetic moved to NYC in 2012 and started recording their second EP ‘Waiting In The Wings’.[2][3]
Current Activity
Signed to a development record deal in 2013 by BHi Music Group (BHiMG), the band currently splits its time between recording and playing out in the NYC-area. Rob also occasionally plays on other people’s records, including having played guitars on Beyoncé’s ‘Best Thing I Never Had’.[1][4]
