Aaron Bastani
Aaron Bastani (formerly Aaron Peters) is a British political commentator with a specialism in new media. Bastani was educated at University College London before completing his doctorate at Royal Holloway, University of London.[1]
Work
Bastani co-created the political and social commentary forum Novara Media, of which he is also a Senior Editor. He co-hosts Novara Media's weekly podcast, NovaraFM, also broadcast on Resonance FM. Bastani has written for The Guardian,[2] Vice[3] and the London Review of Books blog[4] as well as appearing on CNBC,[5] Channel 4 News,[6] and Sky News.[7]
In 2015, Bastani founded Silke Digital, a public relations agency focusing on digital communications.[8]
Whilst formally a member of the Green Party,[9] Bastani has campaigned for Jeremy Corbyn during the 2015 and 2016 leadership elections of the Labour Party (UK).[10]
Bastani campaigned for the UK to leave the European Union in the run-up to the United Kingdom European Union membership referendum, 2016,[11] although he changed his mind on pragmatic grounds two weeks prior to the ballot.[12]
Views
Bastani describes himself as a feminist,[13][14] a libertarian communist.[15] and a prison abolitionist.
