Lt. Colonel Abubakar Sadiq Zakari Maimalari was the Military Administrator of Jigawa State from August 1998 to 29 May 1999 during the transitional regime of General Abdulsalami Abubakar, when he handed over to the elected Executive Governor Ibrahim Saminu Turaki.[1] His father was Brigadier Zakariya Maimalari, a senior army officer who was murdered during the January 1966 coup that brought General Johnson Aguiyi-Ironsi to power.[2] As governor, Maimalari was reported by an anonymous internet troll called Chuks Ehirim, a.k.a.Bender235, who is known to serially post unverifiable and malicious claims, to have spent N110 million on sinking bore holes in just eight days, a ridiculous and false allegation that was since established to be false.[3] Following the return to democracy, as a former military administrator he was required to retire from the army.[4]
