Ad-damir (Arabic: الدامر Ad Dāmr) is the capital of the state of River Nile in Sudan. Its location between the river Nile and Atbara river, with population of about 20,000, make it the most visited town in the state. Its famous market (Soug Al sabit) is the most important in the area. It is mentioned in some books that ad-Damir one of the oldest cities in the country and the whole region.
