Advanced Optical Materials, is a peer-reviewed scientific journal published by Wiley-VCH. It was launched as an independent journal in January 2013, after a section with the same name having been published since March 2012 in the journal Advanced Materials. Its scope is all aspects of light-matter interactions. Peter Gregory is the founding and acting chief editor.[1]
Aims and scope
Publishing formats are three or four page (short) communications, detailed full papers, review articles, progress reports and essays with the same specifications as for the sister-journal Advanced Materials. In 2013 the journal published 12 issues containing 126 articles and two reviews.[2] The stated purpose of the journal is to communicate significant discoveries which advance the fields of photonics, plasmonics, and metamaterials and important results in fundamental research.[3]
The section Advanced Optical Materials in the Journal Advanced Materials also covered topics related to these fields such as optical structures and devices of various scales. Complimentary topics included coatings, fluorescent materials, detectors, optical data storage, holography, laser materials, miniature resonators and cavities, fabrication methods, and other devices and principles.[4]
Coverage
Research areas covered in the journal include[3]
- Photonic crystals
- Nonlinear optics
- Optical nanostructures
- Optoelectronics
- Optical devices, detectors & sensors
- Holography
- Opto-acoustic materials
- Optical data storage
