Alberto Agustín Castillo Gallardo (born May 5, 1963 in Peru) is a retired Peruvian footballer.
Biography
He started his career with Alianza Lima in 1973. He was part of the squad that won the 1975 tournament. He played in the Peruvian second division until 1978 when he moved to Club Atlético Chalaco but he returned to the Peruvian second division. In 1989, he traveled to Ecuador to play with Deportivo Cuenca.
In 1990, Castillo joined Atlético Marte in El Salvador, he then moved to Costa Rica to play with Herediano.[1] In 1994 he returned to El Salvador to play with Águila. In 1996 he moved to play with FAS where he retired.
As a coach
In 1997, he began coaching career with Deportivo Municipal in his native country of Peru. Most of his success was when he became the manager of FAS of El Salvador where he won 5 titles.[2] In 2008 he coached Águila but then he left the squad being his personal decision. Afterwards he coached Firpo taking to them to two consecutive semi finals but failing to reach the grand final. He then accepted to coach Suchitepéquez of Guatemala and helped the small club reach the semi finals. He is returned as the head coach of FAS in 2011 and lead them to the final which they lost to Alianza, the end of the season he returned to Peru to coach Sport Boys. On December 17, 2012, he was announced as the new manager to El Salvador. On December 20, 2013, he was sacked as manager of El Salvador. [3]
