Alexandra "Alex" Chidiac (born 15 January 1999) is an Australian international footballer from Windsor Garden who plays as a midfielder for Adelaide United in the W-League and for Australia. She is currently a college student that attends at St. Mary's College.[1] At St. Mary's College she is currently in year eleven because of correspondence. She lives over 400 miles from home.[2] Alex Chadic shares a home at LaTrobe University. In this campus house is her and four other interstate players.[3]
Early life
Chidiac played with boys in the youth football with Croydon Kings, before going on to represent FFSA U14/15 in FFSA's Women's Premier League and then Adelaide United in the W-League. When training for the Adelaide United women's squad she was also on the national under-16 team. In 2015, she moved to the newly established Melbourne City team.[4]
Club career
In 2011, Chidiac won the under-14B-grade premiership. After this she joined the youth football for FFSA U14/15 in FFSA's Women's Premier League. When Chidiac played at the National Youth Championships, which was held at Coffs Harbour in July 2013, she was pronounced player of the tournament. In 2013 she had scored the second most goals in the top tier competition for females of the state. This was for the Women’s Premier League.[5] Also in 2013 after her season of having 33 goals Chidiac was the youngest winner of the Premier League player of the year.[6]
In 2013, Chidiac joined Adelaide United.[7]
On 4 September 2015, Chidiac signed with new W-League club Melbourne City.[8] Her and the rest of Melbourne City defeated Melbourne Victory in a 2-1 win at AAMI Park in October 2015.[9]
On 7 September 2016, Chidiac returned to Adelaide United, joining re-signing teammate Emily Condon and new coach Mark Jones.[10]
International career
In early 2015, Chidiac was called up to the senior Australia squad to tour New Zealand, aged sixteen. Her and the rest of the Australian squad competed in the Asian Cup in China.[11] She made her international debut on 12 February 2015, coming on as a substitute for Lisa De Vanna in a win over New Zealand.[12] On the Joe Monetmurro’s star studded squad, in 2015, Alex Chidiac was the youngest member.[13] On 16 January 2015 Alex Chadic and the rest of Melbourne City faced Sydney FC in Melbourne, Australia in the W-League for round 14.[14]
