Ambal Brahmapureeswarar Temple
Ambal Brahmapureeswarar Temple[1]( அம்பல் பிரமபுரீசுவரர் கோயில்[2]])is a Hindu temple located at Ambal in Tiruvarur district, Tamil Nadu, India. Now the place is known as Koilpatthu.[3] The presiding deity is Shiva. He is called as Brahmapureeswarar. His consort is known as Poonkuzhalammai. The historical name of the place is Punnakavanam.[4]
Significance
It is one of the shrines of the 275 Paadal Petra Sthalams - Shiva Sthalams glorified in the early medieval Tevaram poems by Tamil Saivite Nayanar Tirugnanasambandar.[4]
Literary Mention
Tirugnanasambandar describes the feature of the deity as:[5]
