She later represented the Dominican Republic at the Miss Grand International 2015 in Bangkok, Thailand and won the first crown for Dominican Republic. But on March 24, 2016, Anea Garcia resigned the title after allegations of assault while on a mission trip to South Sudan arose, in which the organization and the president Nawat Itsaragrisil of MGI did not take action nor look into.[1]
Early life
Anea was born in Providence, Rhode Island and later moved to Cranston, Rhode Island.[2] She was adopted by her grandmother who has instilled in her the ideals of perseverance, principles, and values. She is a second semester sophomore at Roger Williams University in Bristol, Rhode Island on a full tuition grant through the International Leadership Award and is pursuing a double major in Legal Studies and Philosophy.[2]

On August 30, 2015 Anea gave up her title to Theresa Agonia, the new 2016 Miss Rhode Island USA. After completing her duties, in September 2015 Anea was appointed Miss Grand Dominican Republic in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.
Miss Grand International 2015
On October 25, 2015 Anea was crowned Miss Grand International, where she represented the Dominican Republic in Bangkok, Thailand.[5] She competed with seventy six contestants from different countries and territories of the world, and at the end of the evening she was crowned Miss Grand International 2015 at the hands of its predecessor Daryanne Lees from Cuba.[6]
Resignation
On March 24, 2016, Anea Garcia resigned the title of Miss Grand International 2015 after allegations of assault while on a mission trip to South Sudan arose, in which the organization and the president Nawat Itsaragrisil of MGI did not take action nor look into. After Garcia's resignation from the title, the Miss Grand International Organization announced that her first runner-up, Claire Elizabeth Pearl Parker, will assume the title of Miss Grand International 2015.
