Anytime is the third album by Brian McKnight. This was the last record McKnight recorded with Mercury Records before moving to Motown. In fact, Anytime would be re-released on Motown after he signed with the label (as Mercury and Motown at the time were both owned by PolyGram). It broke into the top 20 on the Billboard 200 chart, and to date is McKnight's highest peaking album on the Top R&B Albums chart where it took the No. 1 position for three weeks. It was certified double platinum by the RIAA on October 15, 1998.

Singles
The lead single "You Should Be Mine (Don't Waste Your Time)" became his biggest hit in four years, peaking at No. 17 on the Billboard Hot 100 and #4 on R&B. It featured rapper Mase, whose own career was at its peak during 1997.
The title track was an even bigger hit, reaching No. 6 on the Billboard Hot 100 Airplay chart in May 1998. The song was not released as a single, and was therefore ineligible to chart on the Hot 100, but was still one of the most played songs on the radio during 1998.
McKnight's third single "The Only One for Me" hit #14 on the Rhythmic Top 40 (as no physical single was released for it) and appeared in the sitcom, Sister, Sister, in which Tia (Tia Mowry) and broke up with Tyreke (RonReaco Lee) in the season 6 episode, "The Grass Is Always Greener".
The fourth and final single was "Hold Me" in which the remix/radio edit featured a rap by NBA star Kobe Bryant who also appeared in the music video. It hit #35 on the Hot 100 and #12 on R&B.
