Aquawoman is a fictional superhero appearing in American comic books published by DC Comics. She is the Earth 2 female counterpart to Aquaman, and the alias of a former queen of Atlantis named Marella introduced in the Earth 2 ongoing series. Marella was created by Tom Taylor and Nicola Scott.
Fictional character biography
Marella is queen of Atlantis, captured and kept as a prisoner of the World Army, and held in stasis in the Black Basement of the Arkham Command Center. She dislikes being called "Aquawoman", even though Jimmy Olsen constantly calls her that. Marella is freed by Batman and recruited in the war against the followers of Darkseid.[1] She assists Batman and the other heroes in locating the Kryptonian Val-Zod before returning to Atlantis, but vows to help when called.[2]

- The name "Aquawoman" is occasionally attributed to Mera.
