Around the movie
The film ran for 70 days.[2]
Two important things to notice: P.S.Veerappa volunteered to appear in the movie as a Guest Star because of MGR's shooting incident. And the 2nd was MGR refused to speak with B.Saroja Devi during filming of the final scene because it was taken after the shooting incident: during MGR's hospital stay only she made the announcement that she's not going to work with MGR any longer and going to try other major stars. This announcement forcefully made this movie become her last one with MGR.
ARASA KATTALAI is magnificent one cape and of sword realized by the own older brother of MGR, M. G. Chakrapani and produced by his son, M. C. Ramamoorthy, under The Sathiyaraja Pictures.
The film got very big opening and people floated to see MGR as it is subsequent release after the shooting incident.
This movie gathers for unique time, two bigger and more important feminine partners of MGR, worth knowing, B. Saroja Devi (25 movies with MGR) and Jayalalitha (28 movies with MGR). A very beautiful poster in prospect...
Their respective title in the movie, for B. Saroja Devi, "Abinaya Saraswathi" and for Jayalalitha, "Kavarchi Kanni" (after "Kalai Selvi").
It is the last movie of MGR with the big actress B. Saroja Devi.
In a way, B. Saroja Devi crosses the relay to Jayalalitha.
The dialogues of ARASA KATTALAI are powerful as well as its songs !
