Arshia Riaz
Arshia Riaz is a presenter for the BBC, currently presenting on BBC WM.
Riaz studied at Birmingham City University for a degree in Media and Communication. She was taken on for an internship at CNN studios in London, and trained with the BBC as a Broadcast Journalist.
She worked at various commercial radio stations across the English Midlands before joining BBC WM as producer and presenter of the Midlands Masala show.
Throughout the week Arshia works as a creative practitioner in schools and colleges across the UK, inspiring and teaching youngsters all about radio.
She was also featured in the top 100 most influential Muslims in the UK – in the Muslim Powerlist 2010. She is also a volunteer mentor with the Mosaic network and is part of the Speakers Bureau, engaging with schools, running workshops, giving presentations, and inspiring youngsters from deprived backgrounds to get involved with the media.
Arshia Riaz has hosted events throughout the UK, including the 2009 and 2010 Diwali festivals, and in 2002, was crowned Miss Asia UK.[1]
The Midlands Masala show is broadcast every Sunday evening from 6pm-8pm on BBC WM.
