AsiaInspection is a quality control and compliance company[1] that provides supplier audits, laboratory testing, and product inspections in Asia, Africa, Europe, North America, and South America. Its headquarters are located in Hong Kong.
AsiaInspection employs 1,800 people worldwide. In 2016, the company performed 215,000 inspections and audits, and conducted laboratory tests for clients in 120 countries.[2][3]
AsiaInspection partners with brands, retailers and importers, in its mission to verify, secure, manage, and optimize supply chains worldwide. The company offers product inspections for consumer goods and food products, laboratory tests to certify product compliance with international norms and standards (e.g. EN-71 for toys), manufacturing audits (according to ISO 9001 and C-TPAT standards), ethical audits (SA8000, Sedex), and structural audits that address safety of buildings.
The Company
The company was established in 2005 by Sebastien Breteau, its current CEO.[4] From his experience working in the trade sector between Asia and Europe, Breteau concluded that European companies, especially SMEs, often have difficulties in securing third-party quality control services. Responsiveness and ease of access to the service were among the biggest issues. To address that deficiency, Breteau launched a web platform that allowed clients to order and receive reports within 48 hours.[5]
AsiaInspection currently has 5,500 clients worldwide, and was one of the four leading global companies in its sector in 2016. It employs over 1,200 inspectors and auditors, specialized by product and industry.[6]
The company publishes a quarterly "barometer" report that provides an analysis of the quality control and manufacturing trends in Asia and worldwide.[7]
The company is a member of IFIA, a non-profit federation representing large companies in the auditing, inspection, and certification sectors.[8]
Missions
AsiaInspection's mission is to control the quality and the compliance of products manufactured mainly in China, Asia, Africa, and South America. It also audits and monitors the working conditions of these companies for ethical and environmental issues (child labour, illegal practices, sustainable development, etc.). The company conducts product inspections, laboratory testing, and supplier verification programs in Asia, Africa, Europe, and Latin America.
Mergers and Acquisitions
In 2011, AsiaInspection entered into a joint venture with Silliker, a Mérieux NutriScience company, and launched AsiaFoodInspection, a company focused on food quality control.[9]
On April 1, 2013, AsiaInspection acquired Asia Tech, a privately owned quality control company specializing in electronic, metal, and plastic components, as well as assembly, tooling, and consumer products.[10] On June 25, 2013, AsiaInspection fully acquired CHB, a private Chinese owned lab testing company accredited by CNAS and CMA.[11]
In May 2015, AsiaInspection acquired ANSECO Group, a testing laboratory specializing in children's products, promotional products, electrical and electronic products, and textile, with laboratories in the United States and Hong Kong.[12]
Awards
In 2006, AsiaInspection received the Best SME award from Christine Lagarde, then Minister of Commerce and Industry of French Republic, on behalf of the French Chamber of Commerce in China CCIFC.[13]
AsiaInspection also received the 'E-Business of the Year' award from Alibaba in 2008.[14]
Accreditations
AsiaInspection is accredited by the China National Service Accreditation for Conformity Assessment (CNAS)[15] and authorized by the AQSIQ to carry out inspections and laboratory tests in China.[16]
In the US, AsiaInspection is accredited by the Consumer Product Safety Committee and the National Accreditation Board.[17][18]
