Since the School was founded in 2007 its enrolment has grown to over 300 students. The student body comprises over 20 nationalities, with around 60 percent coming from Australia and New Zealand.
The school's Phoenix Park campus is centrally located on Tanglin Road. The school relocated from its former Toa Payoh campus in December 2009. The new Phoenix Park campus includes a purpose-built sports field and basketball court.
The Australian Curriculum is organised into eight key learning areas:
- English
- Maths
- Science
- Humanities and Social Sciences
- The Arts
- Health and Physical Education
- Languages
- Technologies
AGS is known for its quality education coupled with its welcoming, nurturing teaching methodology. Parents who are drawn to warmer, community-based schools tend to find the Avondale offering appealing.
AGS is at the forefront of the Positive Education movement which originated in Australia. Positive Education is based on teaching students resilience, 'grit' and becoming a kind and thoughtful person.
