Azad Kashmir Regular Force (AKRF) was the predecessor of Azad Kashmir Regiment of Pakistan Army.[1] As AKRF it was part of the Paramilitary Forces of the State of Azad Jammu and Kashmir.[2] It was merged into Pakistan Army after Indo Pak War 1971 as one of the Infantry Regiments and named as Azad Kashmir Regiment or AK Regiment.[3][3] Most of the troops dispatched as Infiltrators in Indian Occupied Kashmir during Operation Gibraltar belonged to AKRF.
