Azmatgarh is a town and a nagar panchayat in Azamgarh district in the state of Uttar Pradesh, India.
History
The history of Azmatgarh is very ancient. It is the birthplace of freedom fighter brothers like Goga Shah and Bhikkhi Shah. The town has services such as schools, colleges, hospitals, banks and many Hi-Tech facilities. The majority of the population are adherents of Hinduism.
Employment
Textile and handloom is a flourishing industry in Azmatgarh. This town is also famous for its players in sports like Football & Cricket.
Festivals
Common Indian Festivals such as Holi, Diwali, Durga Puja, Vijayadashami, Chatha, Eid are celebrated with great pomp and show in the city.[1]
Demographics
As of 2001 India census,[2] Azmatgarh had the population of 11101, but as per the UP government website Azmatgarh had population of 13,483 . Males constitute 50% of the population and females 50%. Azmatgarh has an average literacy rate of 72%, lower than the national average of 75.5%; with 85% of the males and 70% of females literate. 21% of the population is under 6 years of age.

Mostly all major Hindi and Urdu dailies including Dainik Jagran, Amarujala, Hindustan, Rashtriya Sahara, Aaj, Nai Duniya, Inquilab, Hausla News available in Azamgarh. Hindi and Urdu dailies also have their bureaus in the District Head Quarter Azamgarh . Almost all big Hindi TV news channel have stringers in the Town.
Culture and language
Azmatgarh's culture is a reflection of Hindu culture. Since Azmatgarh lies in the eastern part of the Uttar Pradesh and hailing near to Bihar Border, Bhojpuri (85%), Khadi Bhasha (13%) and Urdu (2%) are the main languages.
