Ballycoan Pipe Band is a competitive pipe band based in the Purdysburn area of Belfast, Northern Ireland.
History
The group was originally formed in 1935 in the village of Ballycoan. The band was promoted to grade one after winning all five RSPBA Majors in grade two during the 2002 competition season. Since entering the premier grade, the band has qualified for the final at the World Pipe Band Championships on five occasions (2003, 2005, 2006, 2008, 2009), winning the qualifier in 2005 and 2009.
Leadership
The band is currently under the leadership of Pipe Major Alfie Rea and Drum Sergeant Brendan Megoran.
