- In the early 1990s, Silex was created by 4 engineers coming from ACEC, that closed the ASIC development activities.
- In 1995, Barco acquired Silex for its ASIC activities, as ASIC technology was a key need for the development of the Barco RGB projectors.

- In 2000, BarcoSilex opens an ASIC engineering office in Aix en Provence close to the ES2 fab of ASICS
