Bare Bones Software is a private North Chelmsford, Massachusetts, United States software company developing software tools for the Apple Macintosh platform. The company developed the BBEdit text editor, marketed under the registered trademark "It doesn't suck,"[1] and has been mentioned as a "top-tier Mac developer"[2] by Mac OS X journalist John Siracusa.

The company was founded in May 1993, and incorporated under the Commonwealth of Massachusetts in June 1994.
