Behind the Times is an EP by AFI released on 11 June 1993 on Key Lime Pie Records. This release was limited to 500 copies, in addition to test pressings. The 1st pressing of 400 and a 2nd pressing of 100 all on black vinyl. They can be distinguished, as the first pressing of the vinyl is translucent when viewed in front of light and the 2nd pressing is opaque black. Some of the first pressings also included an alternate version of the sleeve and a small thank-you list in the form of an additional insert, which was not included with all copies. As of 2007 it has reached a value often over $200 on eBay auctions.
The EP was reissued in October 2016 via Atom Age Industries,[1] a company owned by former AFI bassist Geoff Kresge. The reissue featured slightly altered artwork on a glossier sleeve, but was otherwise identical.
Tracks 1 and 2 were rerecorded and released on the vinyl pressing of Very Proud of Ya and later on the AFI retrospective. Tracks 3-5 were rerecorded for AFI's debut full-length album, Answer That and Stay Fashionable. "Born in the US of A" appears nowhere else.
