Big Brother Canada 2 was the second season of the Canadian reality television series Big Brother. It was based upon the Dutch series of the same name, which gained notoriety in 1999 and 2000. The series was produced by Endemol USA, Shaw Media, and Insight Productions.

The season premiered on March 5, 2014[1] and ended after 71 days on May 8, 2014, where Jon Pardy was named the winner, and Sabrina Abbate, the runner-up.

Development

The series aired on Slice for the second year in a row.

Following numerous seasons of Loft Story (2003–09)[2][3] and a season of the French adaption of Big Brother (2010)[4] it was confirmed that Shaw Media and Slice had picked up the format and would air the first English season in the country in 2013.[5] The first season premiered in February 2013 to a positive critical and commercial reception.[6][7] The show continued to have success, at one point becoming the most watched series on the channel.[8]

The second season was officially confirmed on June 5, 2013.[9] On the success of the series, Barbara Williams with Shaw Media stated "Last season, our Canadian edition of Big Brother exceeded all expectations, bringing in record audiences and engaging fans in ways we’d never done before [...] With season two chock-full of opportunities for viewers at home to influence the house and never before seen show-altering twists, our new batch of HouseGuests and fans are in for a wildly exciting ride."

[10] Casting for the season began on August 1, 2013.[11] Much like the previous season, Robyn Kass of Kassting Inc. was in charge the casting process.[12][13] Potential HouseGuests could apply online until October 25, while six open casting calls were held throughout Canada from September to October.[14]

Arisa Cox returned to host the season.[15]

In February 2014, it was confirmed that there would be a total of fifteen HouseGuests participating in the season.[16] The cast was officially revealed on February 26, 2014,[17] and officially entered the house the following day.[18]

Despite the announcement of fifteen HouseGuests, only fourteen were revealed. It was later announced that the fifteenth HouseGuest would not be known until the premiere night.[19][20] Series executive John Brunton said of the season's opening twist, "It’s a major, major thing that we’re pulling off. We’re going to do something at the beginning that again, nobody’s seen on any Big Brother anywhere [...] It’s going to be a freakin’ barnburner, people are going to be on the edge of their seats."[21]

During the premiere, it was revealed that three potential HouseGuests, Scott Bosse, a "drag queen" from Nova Scotia,[22] Allison White, a psychiatric nurse from Newfoundland, and metal worker Nate Sandri from Burnaby, BC, had moved into a secret room within the Big Brother house, and that the Canadian public would vote for one of them to enter the house following the second eviction, thus becoming the fifteenth houseguest.[23][24][25][26]

The series officially premiered on March 5, 2014 and aired three episodes each week, on Sunday (which showed the nomination ceremony and any luxury or Have-Not competitions during the week), Wednesday (which showed the Power of Veto competition and ceremony), and Thursday (the only live show, wherein there would be a live eviction, followed by the Head of Household competition).[27] The schedule used for Big Brother 2 was the same as that of the previous season.[28] In addition, Big Brother: After Dark, would return and air on Slice.[29] The series provided an uncensored live feed from the house, airing for three hours every night.[30]

A new spin-off series, called the Big Brother Side Show, aired on Thursdays after the live show, and was co-hosted by former season 1 HouseGuests Gary Levy and Peter Brown.[31]

Along with the televised series, Big Brother 2 featured live feed streaming from the house.[32] Much like the previous year, the feeds were available for free on the official website, and were blocked solely for competitions and various production aspects.[33]

House

In October 2013, it was confirmed that the house used for the series would be moving to a new location at Showline Studios in Toronto.[34][35] In February, photos of the new house were released weekly on Fridays, with the photos being teasers of the house under construction.[36] Entertainment Tonight Canada gave a tour of the new house on February 24, 2014.[37] House designer Peter Faragher, who also worked on the first season, said that he was inspired by "a modern home at Dufferin St. and St. Clair Ave."[38] The house featured a total of 85 cameras.[38]

Much like last year, the house featured a large staircase that led to the living room, which featured a lime green wrap-around couch.[39] The main bedroom, featured white and red colors.[40] The Head of Household bedroom [41] featured double doors at its entrance, various shades of blue on the walls, and chandeliers on the ceiling[42][43] Every week, the Canadian public had the opportunity to give the Head of Household room a specific item from the Brick, such as a specific chair or side table.[44]

The have-not room had a black and white scheme, where everything, including the ceiling height, was cut in half. The kitchen featured a similar color scheme, and was inspired by the sci-fi series Star Trek (1996-2005).[45] The house's backyard, held a hot tub and swimming pool for the HouseGuests to use.[46] The house was a total of 18,000 square feet, an increase from the 16,500 square feet that made up the previous house.[38] The Diary Room featured a round brown chair, with various colored dots composing the wall behind it.[47] Former HouseGuest Gary Levy called the house "scary", while Peter Brown felt it was "intimidating." The house also featured a secret room, referred to as the "War Room" that was used as the secret room to hold the potential three houseguests.[48] The house also saw the return of Marsha the Moose, who had been used in the previous season.[49]

Format

Big Brother is a game show in which a group of contestants, referred to as HouseGuests, live in isolation from the outside world in a custom built "house", constantly under video surveillance.[50] The HouseGuests are competing for a $100,000 grand prize,[51][52] a $10,000 trip to anywhere in the world courtesy of Twistos, as well as a $25,000 home makeover from The Brick.[53] The runner-up would receive a $20,000 cash prize.[54]

The format of the series is mainly seen as a social experiment, and requires HouseGuests to interact with others who may have differing ideals, beliefs, and prejudices.[55][56] HouseGuests were also required to make visits to the Diary Room during their stay in the house, where they were able to share their thoughts and feelings on their fellow HouseGuests and the game.[57] While in the house, the HouseGuests were given little-to-no information from the outside world.[58] This includes the families and loved ones of the HouseGuests, whom they are not permitted to see or speak to.[59] The house features no telephones, computers, televisions, or reading material other than for religious use.[60] HouseGuests could voluntarily leave the house at any time, but would not be allowed to return.[61][62] In addition, a HouseGuest could be removed from the house at any time for breaking the rules.[63][64] Each week in the house, the HouseGuests participated in various competitions to win food, luxuries, and power.[60] The HouseGuests could also be given tasks to complete in exchange for a reward, with tasks being given to HouseGuests through means of a telephone (season 1) or various props in the house.[65]

At the start of each week in the house, the HouseGuests competed for the title of Head of Household.[66] The Head of Household for each week had special luxuries, such as their own personal bedroom and bathroom, but would also be responsible for nominating two fellow HouseGuests for eviction. The Head of Household would not be able to compete in the following week's Head of Household competition, meaning that a HouseGuest could not hold the title for two weeks in a row.[67][68] The winner of the Power of Veto could choose to save one of the nominated HouseGuests, forcing the Head of Household to nominate someone in their place, or choose to leave the nominations the same.[68][69] All HouseGuests, excluding the Head of Household and nominees, would later vote to determine which of the two nominees should be evicted, and the nominated HouseGuest who received the most votes was evicted during Thursday's live episode.[68] If there is a tie in the voting, the reigning Head of Household would have to make the tie-breaker decision.[70] Unlike other versions of Big Brother, the HouseGuests could discuss the nomination and eviction process openly and freely.[68]

The HouseGuests also competed in Have-Not competitions, in which the losers were required to eat slop for the rest of the week, as well as sleep in the have-not room.[71] When only two HouseGuests remained, the last seven evicted HouseGuests would form the Jury of 7. (This season, only 6 HouseGuests served on the Jury with the Canadian Public serving as the 7th Juror[72]). The Jury would decide which of the final two should win the game.[73]

Summary

On Day 1, the original fourteen houseguests entered the house in 3 groups. The first group to enter the house (Andrew, Kenny, Arlie, Sabrina, and Sarah) formed an alliance, called the "First 5."[74] Following this, the houseguests competed in the Ice Breaker endurance Head of Household competition.[23] For this competition, houseguests stood on blocks of ice and attempted to be the last houseguest remaining on their block.[75] At one point in the competition, the houseguests learned that the next three to drop would get to open a cooler.[76] Heather won a $1,000 prize in her cooler, while Ika was required to wear her bathing suit for two days. The last cooler remained unopened.[23] Towards the end of the competition, Paul made a deal to keep all of the houseguests still in the game safe and claimed he would target those who had already dropped out of the competition.[77] The remaining houseguests agreed and subsequently dropped out, making Paul the first Head of Household.[75]

At the nomination ceremony, Paul chose to nominate Andrew and Anick for eviction, who had both gotten off of their ice blocks prior to his deal being formed.[78][79] Along with Paul, Andrew, and Anick, Sabrina, Adel and Kyle were selected through random draw to compete in the Cut and Grab Superhero themed Power of Veto competition. Competitors had to get through three walls, one covered by a door held in place by numerous nuts and bolts; another, a chain-link fence that they must cut through with a wire cutter, and the final wall being a pane of glass that they needed to smash through the and hit the button to win POV.[80] Andrew was the winner.[78][81] Andrew later chose to use the Power of Veto to remove himself from the block, with Ika being nominated in his place.[82] On Day 8, Anick became the first houseguest to be evicted from the house in a unanimous vote of 11-0.[83][84][85]

Following Anick's eviction, potential houseguests Allison, Nate, and Scott entered the War Room where they would remain for a week while the public determined which of them would become an official houseguest [86] The remaining thirteen official houseguests were unaware that these three were hidden inside the house.[87] That night, Andrew became the new Head of Household after winning the Fresh From the Farm Head of Household competition.[88] In the competition, the houseguests were split into teams of two. One person would hold a large basket for as long as possible, while their partner went digging for potatoes with their specific team colour. Once a potato was found, that same competitor would try to throw potatoes into other team's baskets, thereby making the basket too heavy to hold. The last team standing would then battle each other to become the next Head of Household. In addition, the first two teams eliminated (Sarah and Neda, Heather and Rachelle) would be the have-not's for the week.[89] Andrew attempts to strike a deal with Jon, where if Jon were to drop his basket (thus eliminating himself and partner, Kenny), he would be safe during the week. No deal was made, though Jon would eventually drop his basket. The remaining team, Andrew and Arlie, battled each other for the HOH title; the two were to search through the dirt until one found a golden potato. Arlie decides to throw the competition, and makes himself seem weaker and more tired than he actually felt. However, he discovers the golden potato in the dirt, but passes it twice to allow Andrew to pick it up himself. Andrew does, indeed, eventually see the golden potato and claims his HOH. After, Arlie makes a spectacle of showing how exhausted he was by collapsing on the ground, in an effort to appear as a weak and non-threatening player. His efforts were effective, as some of the houseguests rushed to his aid, none of them appearing to realize it was merely all an act.

Later in the week, Andrew nominated Paul and Neda for eviction, with Paul being his target. At the nomination, Andrew told Paul that the reason he is on the block is because he is a hypocrite, and has been saying slanderous things about him to the house that could affect the way the other houseguests, Canada, and his family and friends see him. After the ceremony, Paul requested everyone to remain in the living room, and begins to talk about Andrew being racist and sexist. The house turns on him and berates him for his comments. In the Diary Room, Paul says he did not believe Andrew was either of those things, but that he was attempting to play the villain. In the following episode, Paul attempted to reconcile with Andrew in the HOH room, but Andrew asks him to leave and not talk to him for the rest of his time in the house.[90]

Big Brother assigns the houseguests three tasks to help them come together after such a divide in the house. The first task was to clean the entire house, but they had to be in pairs: one person in a blindfold, while the other leads them around. The second task was for all the houseguests to stand on a red sheet, and turn it over without anyone touching the floor.[91] The third, and final task, was for everyone to be connected by a rope. Each houseguest was required to have the rope going down one sleeve, and one pant leg. All tasks were completed successfully.[92]

Along with the two nominees and Head of Household, Kenny, Sarah and Sabrina were chosen to compete in a Power of Veto competition sponsored and inspired by the movie, Divergent. In addition to playing in the POV competition, the host and competitors would get a special, advanced screening of the film in the backyard to help prepare them for what was to come in the competition. They then competed in the Divergent Veto competition. When they walked into the backyard, they learned that in order to win the Veto, they were to jump from ten feet in the air, crawl under a low crawl, run to a cargo net, and wall climb over into a pool, where they would need to find one of six puzzle pieces. They then would take a zip line back to the start, insert their puzzle piece, and continue this until all six pieces were collected. The first person to complete the puzzle would win. Kenny won the competition and used the veto on Neda, as per Andrew's wishes. Andrew proceeded to backdoor Kyle, putting him up as the replacement nominee. He was evicted by a 9-1 vote on Day 15; Adel was the sole vote in favor of evicting Paul.[93]

Following Kyle's eviction, the houseguests played Big Brother Tabloid for HOH, in which Arisa asked the houseguests if a particular detail of a previous competition was true, or just a rumour. Ika won, and became the 3rd HOH of the season. After living a full week in the war room, Allison was named the fifteenth and final houseguest to enter the Big Brother house, and was given immunity for her first week in the game.[93] However, before entering the house, Allison was given two rules: she could not mention the war room and she could not mention that she was spying on the houseguest via the televisions in the war room for a week prior to entering the house. If she broke either of these rules, she would be immediately evicted from the house.[94]

At the nomination ceremony, Ika nominated Heather and Paul for eviction; though she says Paul is her target, Ika is actually gunning for Heather to be the one evicted. On Day 18, Big Brother gave the houseguests a task called 'Who is the Buzz-worthiest houseguest?" in which the houseguests would compete to be the most talked about houseguest in Canada. Fans could vote for their favourite on Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram.[95] Adel was deemed the winner of the task, and was given news about the outside world, including news that both the men's and women's hockey teams had won gold at the 2014 Sochi Olympics,[96][97] and that Roberto Luongo had been traded to the Florida Panthers by the Vancouver Canucks.[98] In addition, he also received a special power in which he could choose to remove a player from any POV competition, and play in their place, but chose to keep this a secret from the houseguests, and tell him he had won another power instead.[99] Adel would eventually tell Ika the true nature of his power.[100]

In the have/have-not competition, called Big Brother Bottle Service, houseguests had to fill their wine cap as fast as possible, and get the cork out of the top. They would be put in groups of three (Jon, Paul, and Allison; Arlie, Kenny, and Adel; Sarah, Neda, and Andrew; and Sabrina, Rachelle, and Heather); one person would stomp the grapes, while another member of the team transfers the juice to the third team member, who would then carry it to the wine caps and fill it up, all while walking on a slippery floor. The last team, of Jon, Paul, and Allison, became the have-nots for the week.[95] The week progresses as Allison and Andrew begin a showmance.[101]

Ika, Heather, and Paul, as well as Neda, Arlie and Andrew, played in the Nuts to That POV competition. Heather fell and thus could not complete the competition.[102] She would be taken to evaluated, but later returned. Ika won the veto, and decided not to use it, thus leaving the nominations the same. The girls side of the house wanted to evict Heather, while the boys side (including Allison) wanted to evict Paul, with Sarah being caught in the middle. In the end, Sarah voted with the boys, and Paul was evicted on Day 22, by a vote of 6-4.[103] Notably, Andrew and Paul shook hands and briefly hugged upon Paul's exit from the house.

Following Paul's eviction, the houseguests went to the backyard to compete in the next Head Of Household competition. The houseguests (excluding Ika) competed in the Hang In There for HoH endurance competition, where they would have to place both hands on a podium. While both hands are on the podium, the light will come on and be white, but if their hands leave the podium at any time, for any reason, the light turns red and they are out. Additionally, Big Brother would also crank a winch that tightens a bungee cord around their waists. Rachelle would end up winning, and was tasked with picking the have-not's for the week. She chose those who had not been on slop previously, such as Arlie and Adel, while Sabrina volunteers, only to realize that she would not be able to sleep in Rachelle's HOH room. Rachelle also chose Heather, though the two had been on slop together.[104]

Big Brother called Allison and Jon into the Diary Room, and gave them both a secret task. In the room, there was a disco party set up, with lots of alcohol. The two would have to continually drink, and then go back into the house while trying to avoid suspicion.[105] They completed their task, and the rest of the house was able to enjoy a party, with food (that even the have-not's could eat) and alcohol.

Arisa also informed Canada that the Big Brother Fan Meter had hit two million, which meant Marsha the Moose, from the previous season, would be in the house on Wednesday's episode.

At the nomination ceremony, Rachelle nominated Heather and Allison for eviction, with Heather being her main target. Later that week, Allison won the Power of Veto competition, called Lacrosse Fire, wherein players were dressed in neon, '80s gym class gear. In each round, all players would have one shot at the blocks to try to get the highest score they possibly could. At the end of each round, the player with the lowest score would be eliminated, but would have to claim a prize from their respected gym bag, though the next players could choose to steal that prize in favor of another. Jon was eliminated first, and had the veto necklace in his bag. Rachelle is eliminated next, and receives "Pool Party For One," which meant that over the following 24 hours, anytime an airhorn sounded, she would have two minutes to get into the pool, and swim at least one lap. She trades her task with Jon, and receives the veto. Allison is the next to be eliminated, and receives a cash prize that would be announced at the end of the competition. She trades Rachelle for the veto. Heather is eliminated fourth, and receives "Hot Doggin' It," a task where she would have to wear a hot dog outfit for a week. Instead of trading for the veto, she trades Rachelle for the cash prize, stating that Kenny or Sarah would have taken the veto from her anyhow. Kenny was eliminated next, and received a slop pass, with which he traded with Heather for the money. Sarah, coming in first, received "Walk It Off," a task in which she would be required to wear a workout uniform along with a pedometer, and would have to walk at least 10,000 steps every day for the rest of the week. Sarah traded Heather for the slop pass, and Allison won the POV. Kenny also ended up winning $18.35.[106]

As Arlie emerged from the diary room one day, Marsha the Moose revealed herself to be behind a wall in the hall leading to the diary room. She first gives him the task of shaving his head, stating that he looked like roadkill. The second task was to take each houseguest aside, and tell them each something harsh about themselves. Arlie was successful, even making some houseguests cry,[107] and the house won a visit from first season houseguest Talla, who brings them bags of Chinese Food.

At the Veto Ceremony, Allison used the POV to take herself off the block. Rachelle nominated Ika in her place, putting a plan in motion to backdoor her former ally.

Hundreds of coloured balls dropped from the ceiling of the backyard, and the houseguests began counting them. Ika, knowing her game was in jeopardy, remained in the backyard well after every other houseguest had returned inside. She ultimately guessed the number of balls correctly, and was given another task. Alone in the backyard, she was given a choice of either shredding a $5000 cheque written to her by Big Brother or shredding letters from home of the rest of the house guests. During her decision, Ika was unaware that the other house guests were able to listen and watch her via the living room television. In the end, Ika decided to take the $5000 and to shred the other houseguests letters, which caused an uproar in the house.[108] She claimed that knew that she would be evicted anyway, so she opted to leave with some financial gain. Adel agreed with her decision, stating that the houseguests would not have kept her either way. On Day 27, Ika was evicted by a vote of 8-1, with the sole vote to evict Heather being Adel's.[109]

The houseguests went to the backyard expecting the next Head of Household competition, but to their surprise, the backyard was empty. They were informed that Canada would be week five's Head of Household. Viewers had the opportunity to nominate two people for eviction, though who would ultimately be evicted would still be up to the houseguests. In the have/have-not competition, the theme was Big Brother Prom. The houseguests are broken into four teams; one member had one minute to act out ten different dances, and for every correct dance identified, the group would receive one point. The group with the least amount of points in the end would be the have-not’s for the week. Jon and Adel became the have-not’s.

Arisa comes on to announce that the Big Brother Fan Meter is back again, and if it reaches six million, a secret mission to find a hidden power of veto will be activated in the house. She also announces to the houseguests that Canada had decided to nominate Andrew and Sabrina.[110]

Prior to the Power of Veto Competition, players were picked. In addition to Andrew and Sabrina, four other players were picked. Jon, Heather, Adel, and Neda are chosen. When Heather chose the chip, ‘houseguests’s choice’, Andrew urged her to choose Kenny, so he would have one other person in the competition willing to play for him. Instead, Heather chose Adel, prompting Andrew to call her a “dumb bitch” when he confronts her. Heather maintains that she is playing her game, not Andrew and Sabrina’s, and stands by her decision. The competition, Big Brother Airlines, has a flight attendant theme, where the players were to go one at a time, looking for three left behind items: a baby bottle, wallet, and pair of sunglasses. If any contestant chooses a pocket with an X in it, they get one strike against them; three strikes, they’re out. Jon received the Power of Veto, and decided not use it, declaring that it was Canada's week, and he would respect the country's decision to keep Andrew and Sabrina on the block. Not wanting to campaign against his ally, Andrew decided to spend his last days with his Allison. The houseguests received a backyard camp-out. They received sleeping bags, flannel pj’s, a camera, and food and alcohol.

The following day, Kenny decides to reveal to Sarah that he is gay.[111][112] Allison wanting Andrew to stay, pitched forth the idea that Jon could flip and keep Andrew in the house. Andrew listened to Allison's advice and had a talk with Jon, asking Jon if he would vote to keep him. Soon after, Jon went to Sabrina and told her she was not as safe as she thought she was. However, on Day 36, Andrew was evicted from the house with a vote of 7-2, with Allison and Kenny being the two votes to evict Sabrina.

Following Andrew's eviction, Heather won the Blindside HOH memory competition.[113] In the competition, Arisa asked the houseguests questions on photos that they had seen in the past week and if the houeseguest who buzzed in first answered correctly, they could choose to knock someone out of the competition. During nominations, Heather put Kenny and Allison up for eviction, as she wanted to make a big move. Allison began to realize she could be in danger for the upcoming weeks, so in order to grow closer to the other side of the house, revealed the "First Five" alliance to them.

Heather chose the have-not’s for the week: Kenny, Rachelle, and Sarah, who had a slop pass. It was later revealed that Rachelle had eaten a Fuzzy Peach, and because have-not’s were not permitted to eat anything but slop, would be punished. However, her punishment was put on the entire house: everyone would have to eat solely slop and use only cold water for 48 hours. Though Rachelle was upset and apologized, Heather wondered in the Diary Room if this was part of Rachelle’s ploy to ruin Heather’s HOH.

Later that week, Kenny went on to win the Power of Veto in the Yukon Gold competition. The competition was a Yukon Gold theme; Jon was chosen as the host. In dirt piles, there were hundreds of golden tiles. Some tiles would be blank, and others would have letters on them. The competitors were to get a pail of dirt, sluice for letters, run to the puzzle board, and make the longest word possible. In addition to the Veto, the winner would also win a Yukon Gold prize pack, which would include a golden nugget.

With the fan-power meter at 6,000,000, a new twist fell upon the house: The Secret Power of Veto. It was not announced to any of the houseguests, but could be found following a series of clues hidden among the house for anyone to find. A flower pot on a table in the house held the first clue (stating, “to find the second clue, make a splash”) and though nearly every houseguest looked for it, Alison discovered it first. The second clue was written on one of three pucks at the bottom of the swimming pool. The clue read that to find the next, she would need to go somewhere hot, where she is cold. The third, and final clue was in a window near the hot tub, where she believes could be leading her to her old secret room. She is correct,[114] and finds the Secret POV. The rules of the POV were that it was a) good for three power of veto ceremonies, and could be used even after the regular power of veto, and b) telling any other houseguest about the power or the secret room would lead to her instant eviction. Allison took the red necklace and hid it amongst her belongings.

Using the Power of Veto on himself, Heather was forced to pick a replacement nominee. With the knowledge of the "First Five" alliance, Heather decided to nominate Kenny's closest ally, Sarah, for eviction. Allison chose not to use the Secret POV on herself, feeling she had enough votes to stay for the week.

During the days between the POV ceremony and the eviction night, Kenny came out to the rest of the house, telling them that he is gay.[115] Also, sensing the possibility of a double eviction, Neda began coming downstairs in the middle of the night to throw out the condiments the have-not’s used with their slop, in an effort to make them not eat much, and become weaker.[116]

With the house clearly split in two, the "other side" formed an alliance of six, including Allison, Neda, Jon, Arlie, Adel and Heather. They decided on calling themselves "The Sloppy Seconds". On Day 43, it was 4-3 vote to evict Sarah, with the four votes coming from "The Sloppy Seconds".[117]

The houseguests were then informed that it was a double eviction night. They quickly piled into the backyard for the HoH competition, We're Counting on This. The competition required the house guests to buzz in "more" or "less" as their answer in reply to one of Arisa's questions. If their answer was correct, the person they were against would be knocked out. It came down to Neda and Arlie, neither of which really wanted the power, especially on double eviction night. Arlie then purposely buzzed in incorrectly so that Neda would be HoH. Neda chose to nominate Sabrina and Rachelle for eviction, with the plan to backdoor Kenny. Adel, Arlie and Heather were picked to be the other veto players. Arlie won the Power of Veto in the Dumpster Diving for Day Old Doughnuts competition and decided to take Rachelle off the block. Neda then nominated Kenny in her place and Allison again did not use her Secret Veto. By a vote of 5-1, Kenny was also evicted from the house, Rachelle being the one vote for Kenny.[118]

Following Sarah and Kenny's eviction, the HouseGuests competed in the "How We Roll" HoH competition. To win this competition, the houseguests had to roll six metallic balls into six holes on a large game board, while keeping all the balls balanced. Jon ended up winning, and nominated Rachelle and Sabrina, dubbed “The Gremlins,” for eviction. While picking players for the power of veto competition, Adel used his secret power to remove Allison from the veto competition, which made Allison angry. After the veto competition, Get Packing for the POV, it was revealed that Jon came out victorious. After talking to some allies, Jon decided to put a backdoor plan in motion, so Rachelle and Sabrina could be saved. But Jon and his alliance could not decide whether or not they would backdoor Arlie or Allison. Jon made up his mind and at the Veto Ceremony, he took Rachelle off the block and nominated Arlie in her place. Allison used her secret power of veto[119][120] to take Sabrina off the block, so Jon nominated Adel in her place. Once again the Power Meter came into play, with it reaching 20,000,000 meaning one houseguest will have a secret 1 on 2 strategy session with season one contestants, Emmett Blois and Jillian Maclaughlin. On day 50, Arlie was evicted from the house in a unanimous a vote of 5-0. Arlie became the first member of the jury.[121]

Following Arlie's eviction, the houseguests competed in the next HOH competition, Pure 21. With the competition being true and false themed, it came down to Allison and Neda competing in the first tie-breaker of the season. Neda took a chance by guessing a lower number than Allison did and won the HoH. However, immediately following the competition, Neda was called in to the diary room where she was blindfolded and taken to the war room, where Allison, Scott and Nate had stayed and where Allison got her secret veto. As Neda waited in the war room, the other houseguests began to wonder where she was without knowing that Neda was watching them on the TV screens in the war room. After watching her fellow houeseguests, Arisa appeared on the TV screens and then told Neda that she had to nominate two people for eviction immediately, because it was an instant eviction. Neda immediately ruled out nominating Jon, Adel and Heather and then had to choose between Rachelle, Sabrina and Allison. After debating it for a few minutes, she decided on nominating Allison and Sabrina for eviction.[122] Neda was then taken back in to the house where she told everyone that it was an instant eviction, and that she was nominating Allison and Sabrina. Neda gave a short speech of why she was nominating Allison and Sabrina, and during her speech she made it clear to the house her target was Allison and that Allison could not be trusted. She later revealed she had no such evidence, but wanted to make it clear to the other houseguests what her intentions were. Minutes later, Allison was evicted from the house by a vote of 4-0, and became the second member of the jury.[123]

Following Allison's eviction, the houseguests competed in the next HOH competition called The Eyes Have It. This competition required the houseguests to solve a riddle about another fellow houseguest. Once they solved the riddle, they would have to go look for the puzzle piece with the correct houseguest's eyes on it. Taking the puzzle piece, the houseguest had to put together a puzzle on a ladder. Once the ladder puzzle was solved, a metal ball would drop through the segments behind the puzzle pieces. If the metal ball fell all the way through to the bottom of the ladder, the puzzle would be complete and the first to do this would win the HoH for the week. During the competition, Adel admitted he was not good at riddles and so he guessed his way through the competition. Adel was deemed the winner and later nominated Rachelle and Sabrina for eviction.[124]

After Neda won the veto, in the puzzle competition, Big Brother STAMPede, she was once again called to the diary room by Big Brother. In the diary room, she discovered a note telling her to step out of the diary room and the secret war room will be revealed to her. Neda then followed the instructions and she quickly stepped into the secret room as the door opened. Neda then met Emmett and Jillian for a secret strategy session. During the veto ceremony, Neda decided not to use the power of veto, therefore sealing the Gremlins' fate. Knowing that her closest ally would be evicted that week, Sabrina went to Neda and Jon begging for a final three deal. Jon and Neda seriously considered taking Sabrina to the final three with them, and in the end they agreed to the deal. Jon and Neda then considered throwing the next HoH to Sabrina since they both knew her hatred for Adel and that Sabrina could possibly get Adel out. On Day 57, Rachelle was evicted by a unanimous vote of 3-0.[125]

Following Rachelle's eviction, Jon was crowned the new HOH in the On the Ropes competition, and decided to go after Heather, as he believed that she didn't benefit his game at all.[126] Also, she proved to be an extreme physical threat, remaining neck-in-neck with him during the competition. The houseguests were attached to a long, winding, knotted rope, and had to crawl, climb, and untie the rope to get to the end, all while in freezing cold water.[125]

At the nomination ceremony, Jon nominated Heather and Sabrina for eviction.[127] At the late night veto competition, Blown Away, houseguests had to go in to a chamber that blew lettered-cards around. Houseguests had to grab the cards that would end up spelling out 'Grab The Power Of Veto'. There were also Twistos bags hanging on the top of the ceiling in the chamber that held papers with money amounts on them. Since it was a timed competition, houseguests could either take time to get the money or go directly for the veto. At the end of the competition, the houseguests learned that only the person who had the best time and collected the most money would get to keep their money. The person with the fastest time was Heather, while Neda won $3000.

After the veto competition, the houseguests were called to the living room one by one. They were given an option to give up something to see a loved one. All of the houseguests accepted and got to see their loved ones for two minutes in The War Room,[127] therefore exposing the War Room to the entire house. The houseguests’ punishments were: Adel had to stay awake for 36 hours straight for seeing his brother, Gino,[128][129] Sabrina had to be on slop for the week for seeing her sister, Stephanie. Heather gave up access to the HOH room for seeing her boyfriend, Will, Neda gave up all of her personal belongings to see her sister, and Jon had to stay in the HOH room for 24 hours in solitary confinement to see his father. At the veto ceremony, Heather used the veto on herself and Adel was her replacement.[130] On Day 64, Adel became the fourth member of the jury as he was evicted by a vote of 2-0.[131]

Following Adel's eviction, Neda, Heather and Sabrina competed in the Before or After Head of Household competition. They had to guess whether an event in the house occurred before or after another event. At the end of the competition, Sabrina was crowned the new Head of Household, the first time she had won anything all season.[132] After she won the competition, Sabrina nominated Jon and Heather for eviction, looking to target Jon. Neda, Heather and Sabrina made a final three deal so that they could get Jon out, but Neda was not into the idea of an all girls final three deal, and was not 100% sure she would be able to evict Jon. However, she admitted that she knew that if her and Jon were the final two, it would be pretty hard to beat him, so she wasn’t sure if she wanted to stand beside him in the end.

The Power of Veto competition, hosted by Marsha the Moose, is called MarshaLand. The houseguests don Marsha’s favourite outfits from the season (Jon in his flight attendant outfit, Neda in her cowgirl outfit, Heather in the squirrel outfit, and Sabrina in the schoolgirl outfit). Houseguests were to roll the dice, and move along the boardgame. There were tiles called ‘Trivia,’ where houseguests would answer trivia about a specific week. If they get the answer wrong, they must return to the beginning of the week they are in. Once they reach Week 10, they must answer three trivia questions in a row in order to win the POV. Jon lands on a tile called, ‘How Bad Do You Want It?’ and is offered the chance to move straight to the next week if he agrees to carry out the remainder of the season without showering. He agrees, and moves ahead. Heather lands on the same tile, and is asked if she would wear her squirrel outfit for the remainder of the season in exchange for being allowed to move ahead a week; she declines, stating that it was not worth wearing the outfit just to move four spaces. Neda was given the same option, and opted to accept wearing her cowgirl outfit. Jon lands on a ‘Dual’ tile, and challenges Heather. They spin a wheel, and land on ‘Slop Off,’ where they had to eat a plate of slop the quickest; Jon wins. Jon receives another ‘How Bad Do You Want It?’ tile, and is offered the chance to move ahead, if he eats slop for the rest of the season; he again, agrees. Sabrina receives a ‘Dual’ tile, and challenges Jon; their competition is ‘Stampede,’ wherein Sabrina won. Neda also receives a ‘Dual’ tile, and also challenges Jon. The wheel lands on ‘Stampede’ again, and Jon loses, again. Heather receives another ‘Dual’ tile and challenges Jon again. For a third time, the wheel lands on ‘Stampede,’ and Jon is furious; he loses again. Jon lands on Week 10, and answers the first question correctly, but incorrectly answers the second. He returns to the Week 10 tile, and while waiting for his next turn, Neda answers her first question correctly, but likewise, answers the second incorrectly. His turn comes around, and Jon correctly answers all three questions, winning the Power of Veto.

Since he would use the Veto on himself, Jon decided to go to Heather and inform her that she would be evicted. She took it extremely hard, but respected that Jon told her, and consoled her.[133]

On Day 67, Arisa told the houseguests that the eviction take place on the night following the Power of Veto Ceremony. After Jon used the Power of Veto on himself, Neda was nominated in his place. Following the Power of Veto ceremony, Jon evicted Heather from the Big Brother Canada House.

Following Heather's eviction, another Twistos' Twist was revealed to the final three houseguests. The big twist was that Canada would be the 6th jury member and would cast a vote for who they want to win. They were each given a chance to give a speech to Canada, as to why they believed Canada should vote for them. Arisa also told them that the finale would be just the next day.

The first part of the final HOH was a stamina competition, called Big Brother Bail Out.[134] Each member of the final three stood in a sinking boat, and had to bail all the water out of their boat with a small cup. If the water reached a red line within the boat, the boat would completely sink, and that player would be out. Throughout the competition, random rain and wind storms would hit, filling the boats with more water, and making it challenging for the houseguests to keep water out of their boats. Neda became the first to lose the competition after an hour and twelve minutes, as she was freezing, and felt she could no longer continue on. As Jon bailed water out of his boat, he began tossing some of it into Sabrina’s boat, presumably on purpose. The water in Sabrina’s boat fills past the red line, and her boat sinks, allowing Jon to win the first part of the final HOH competition.

In part two, called Walk the Plank, Neda and Sabrina must create a path to the four corners using planks that connect to an intersecting blocks. On the planks are the name of fellow houseguests, and in order for a path to be deemed correct, both planks must connect and apply to the clue on the block. While Neda worried that she may have taken too long, Sabrina ended up taking longer: Sabrina took forty-nine minutes to complete the path, while Neda only took twenty-six.

Neda and Jon then went on to compete in the Final Part of the HOH competition, Jury Statements, which was held during the live finale. Host Arisa Cox would read questions about the jury members, with one right, and one wrong answer. Jon and Neda would have to choose either A or B. Whomever had the most points after seven questions would win, and be crowned the final Head of Household. Jon wins the competition, and chose to evict his best friend and ally, Neda.[135] She would be the final member of the jury.

Following Neda's eviction, the final two, Sabrina and Jon, told the jury members why they should win Big Brother Canada and why they should vote for them to win. The voting took place, and Jon won, with 6-1 votes in his favour. The only vote for Sabrina was from her best friend, Rachelle.[136]

After the finale, the houseguests were on the Global Morning Show. They played small games and discussed their experience on Big Brother. It was also revealed had Neda made the Final 2, she would've had the majority of the jury votes.
