Bisalpur is a city and a municipal board situated in the Pilibhit district in the state of Uttar Pradesh, India. The picturesque city has lush green meadows scattered all around its grounds. The town is renowned for its sugar factory and the Ram Leela Dushera festival held every year. The city has various historical sites - including the 200 years old Duve Talab, .

Geography

Bisalpur is located at 28°18′N 79°48′E / 28.3°N 79.8°E / 28.3; 79.8.[1] It has an average elevation of 156 metres (512 ft). Bisalpur is famous for its sugar factory and Ram Leela Dushera festival. It is also famous for "Sweets of Nirmal Sweets" and "Mahavir Sweets". Distances between Bisalpur to Bareilly and Pilibhit, is 43 kilometres (27 mi) and 38 kilometres (24 mi) respectively.

Bisalpur is currently the largest Assembly seat of Pilibhit. It is also famous for Temple Gulashwar Nath that was made by Kunti in Mahabharat Kal. Residing in Bisalpur are educational institutions such as S.R.M. Inter College, Ram Dulari Inter College, Janta Inter College, S K JP Girls Inter College ,Sarashwati Vidya Mandir, Om Bal Vidya Mandir, Bal Vidya Bhawan Chini Mill, sigma coaching centre,Tiwari Coaching Centre and scholar college of distance education,vidhya mandir and kAMM scholars school are famous for study. It is also famous for IDEAL COACHING CENTRE, and Bhogapur Chungi Bisalpur. Also, Bisalpur is know for it's well-rounded Mathematics Study.

Demographics

As of 2001 India census,[2] Bisalpur has a population of 73551. Males constitute 54% of the population and females make up 46%. Bisalpur has an average literacy rate of 61.65%, lower than the state average of 67.68% - male literacy is 68.96% and female literacy is 53.43%. 13.93% of the population is under 6 years of age. The main colonies in the town includes Patel Nagar, Durga Prasad Colony, Mohalla Dubey, Mohalla Gyaspur, Mohalla Bakhtavar Lal, Station Road colony etc. North east Railway runs from Pilibhit to Shahjahanpur via Bisalpur.

There are various Inter colleges and one Government Degree College in the city, namely Shri Ram Chandra Municipal Inter College Bisalpur, Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Shivpuri Navadiya, Bisalpur(a fully residential co-educational central govt. college), Janta Technical Inter College, Ram Dulari Inter College Bisalpur,Om Bal Vidya Mandir, Shishu Vihar Inter College Bisalpur, RPMP Inter College Bamrauli Pilibhit, KAMM Scholars School, and Adarsh Vidhya Mandir School.There is also a Cinema Hall named Gopi Talkies.

The city also hosts "Shivdei Balika Vidhayala", a girls only school run primarily by the women faculty. In recent years, the school has earned a reputation for providing low cost education to girls in the town.

Barah Patthar Chouraha is a historical place in Bisalpur, visited by Tatya Tope during Indian Rebellion of 1857.

Others

Bisalpur is connected to Pilibhit and Shahjahanpur through State Highway 29. Agriculture is quite developed in Bisalpur Area. Most of the crops are cultivated in Bisalpur Tehsil especially wheat, rice and sugarcane.
