Originally in an area named "Bonney's Flat", Bonney Flat Creek is a few km west of Balhannah, South Australia, where the Camac family were prominent settlers. This is the site of the historic Bonney Flat Cemetery. Note that the entry for Bonney Flat in the Manning index of South Australian placenames refers to the Bonney Flat Creek region.
Another area, some 30 kilometres (19 mi) to the north and east, Bonney Flat, also once named "Bonney's Flat", is west of Mount Pleasant, south of Mount Crawford and north of Birdwood (prev. Blumberg).[1] Early farmers in this area include the Hannaford family.
