Bredcrum is a Canadian rapper from Southwestern Ontario, Canada. He became well known after uploading several independent viral music videos on YouTube beginning with "Making Love To Justin Bieber" in July 2012. His channel has released 7 music videos to date between July 20, 2012 and September 17, 2013. Bredcrum has earned over 25,000 subscribers and 3.5 million views on YouTube,[2] as of March 1, 2015.

While Bredcrum has not publicly revealed his legal name or true identity, it is suspected by many viewers that his videos are parodies and made for comedic purposes. Bredcrum and his sidekick Ziggy Boy claim to live in Saucyville Ontario, which is a fictional location. It is speculated that this is a pseudonym for Southern Ontario.

Career

Making Love To Justin Bieber

Bredcrum uploaded the music video "Making Love To Justin Bieber" on July 20, 2012. The video quickly went viral and was featured on several websites such as Dailymotion, College Humor, and Funnyjunk.[3] The video is presented in a tongue-in-cheek manner where Bredcrum describes himself as too busy to party with his friends because he is making love to fellow Canadian Justin Bieber. Throughout the song (and subsequent releases), Bredcrum frequently reminds the audience that he is a heterosexual. The video garnered over 100,000 views in less than a week, and subsequently has accumulated over half a million views.[4]

Follow-Up Singles

In August 2012, Bredcrum released a follow-up single titled "Guns Gold And Girls". The song refers to his general daily gangster activities, and reveals that Bredcrum owns and drives a 2004 model Pontiac Sunfire. Subsequent releases were released in reference to current events. "Bredcrum For President" was released in October 2012 and referenced the upcoming United States presidential election.[5] "A Very Crummy Christmas" was released in December 2012 and referenced Bredcrum's personal perception of Christmas and the holiday season.

These follow-up singles each garnered significant popularity on social media websites. In November 2012, "Bredcrum For President" would become the first video by Bredcrum to reach over 1,000,000 views. "A Very Crummy Christmas" was the #1 trending video in the United States on Dec 28 2012.

Keep It Saucy And Beyond

Beginning in the summer of 2013, Bredcrum's music videos shifted away from current events and pop culture, and instead focused on more individual tracks. "Keep It Saucy" was released in May 2013, and coined the use of Bredcrum's signature catchphrase. "I'll Make You Crum Tonight" was released in July 2013 and "Hard In The Streets" was released in September 2013. While these videos did not gain the popularity of earlier videos, they were better received by critics who noted the trend by Bredcrum towards faster, smarter, and more artistic singles.

Appearance

Bredcrum's trademark appearance consists of a red maple leaf toque, black sunglasses, an element baseball hat, a blue FUBU jersey, beige cargo shorts, and a pair of blue and black sneakers. Interviews with Bredcrum and comments on his videos reveal the backstory behind each of these clothing items. The toque was given as collateral from a childhood friend, the sunglasses were found in his attic, the baseball hat was a hand-me-down from his cousin, the FUBU jersey was discovered in a Value Village, the cargo shorts were purchased at a clearance sale from a closing Zellers store and the sneakers were found in a public bathroom.

Throughout the few years his videos have spanned, Bredcrum has added and removed other various accessories as well. In some videos he appears with a gold bead necklace, a cross, a do-rag, or wristbands. He has stated in interviews that he likes to switch up his appearance to always remain saucy and unique.

Catchphrases and Recurring Themes

Bredcrum's signature word "saucy" is used frequently in his songs. He has used it in a variety of linguistic functions such as a noun, adjective, verb, and adverb. While the meaning of the word has never been revealed, it is assumed to have a positive connotation, and may be a general term of endearment open to interpretation such as "cool" or "neat".

Bredcrum's music and videos include references to "bitties" (attractive females) despite no females ever appearing in his videos, his 2004 Pontiac Sunfire, a constant reminder in every song about Bredcrum's apparent heterosexuality. Further analysis reveals potentially darker themes including an addiction to alcohol, adderall, and cocaine .

Ziggy Boy

Ziggy Boy is Bredcrum's apparent sidekick and best friend. He has appeared in 4 of the 7 released singles, and is also credited with camera and production to the videos. He appears to be slightly younger and shorter than Bredcrum, though he is heavier and more muscular. He has never spoken in videos and rarely smiles or produces any reaction whatsoever. Ziggy Boy is mostly seen standing in place observing the more flamboyant and energetic Bredcrum, while he looks on with indifference, amusement, bewilderment, or disappointment.
