Bruiser Brigade is an American hip hop collective formed in Detroit, Michigan in 2010. Members includes rappers Danny Brown, Chip$, Dopehead, TRPL BLK, ZelooperZ, Kash Tha Kushman, and in-house producer SKYWLKR. They released their self-titled debut EP in 2012. They are currently signed to their independent label Bruiser Brigade Records.
History
Danny Brown began his musical career in a hip hop group called Rese'vor Dogs, alongside fellow Detroit-based rappers Chip$ and Dopehead, then known as Dee Luciano, Chips D'Nero and Mike Luke, respectively.[1] In 2003, the trio independently released an album titled Runispokets-N-Dumpemindariva, under Ren-A-Sance Entertainment and F.B.C. Records. In the summer of 2003, the group received mild rotation on Detroit radio stations with their lead single, "Yes".[2][3]
The youngest member of the group, ZelooperZ, revealed he met Danny Brown in 2010, via Twitter, when he asked Brown to listen to his mixtape.[4]
In August 2012, Complex magazine featured Brusier Brigade in their "12 Hip-Hop Crews to Watch for the Rest of 2012" article.[5] In September 2012, Brown collaborated with Scion A/V to release the first full-length project of Bruiser Brigade. The project is a four-track extended play (EP) eponymously titled Bruiser Brigade, featuring remixes composed by Ryan Hemsworth and Lockah.[6][7][8] In October 2012, Bruiser Brigade was featured by Pitchfork.tv.[9]
In June 2014, Brown announced the group would release their debut album, tentatively titled Reign Supreme, in October of that year.[10] In a March 2015 interview, when asked how far completed is the album, Dopehead replied "A heart beat.."[11]
