The Coordenadoria de Recursos Especiais (Portuguese for Coordination of Special Assets), best known by its acronym CORE, is a paramilitary police unit within the Civil Police of Rio de Janeiro State. It was formed on 4 July 1969 and is comparable to São Paulo's GOE.

Armored Vehicles
CORE has armored vehicles, popularly known caveirões, used mainly in operations where there is conflict with drug traffickers. Shielded not have their own weapons, and its firepower made by the armor of troops. The main purpose of these armored vehicles is to protect the lives of trim elements and break the physical barriers used by drug trafficking. Armored still are essential in supporting the rescue trapped police units and in removing the wounded confrontation scenarios.
