Cally-Jo (Cally-Jo Pothecary; born 20 April 1989, Southampton, United Kingdom) is a British fine artist and tattoo artist. Her tattoo designs have been featured in Vogue, Harper's Bazaar, as well as in advertising campaigns by Chanel, Balmain and Christian Dior. She made tattoos for many celebrities, including Rihanna, [1]Tim Howard, Sienna Miller, and the band Slipknot.

Cally-Jo draws inspiration from a variety of sources, including nature, religion, other artists and the human form. She works with mechanical pencil. and often include pictures of human skulls and flowers. She also enjoys working on old envelopes. She has collaborated with artists including Chris Garver, Lal Hardy and Megan Massacre. She showcases her work on social networks like Instagram. Cally-Jo has also traveled to the Dominican Republic, to showcase her talent.

Early life

Cally-Jo began her art studies in college, experimenting with a variety of techniques. She received her diploma in Fine Arts. She continued her education for another three years at the Winchester School of Art, where she learned the basics of pencil drawing. After six years of art training in England, she switched to tattoo and began working in England and America. In 2007, Cally-Jo inked her first tattoo at age 18.

Career

In 2012, Cally-Jo began her career as a tattoo artist in her hometown Southampton, in Love Hate Social Club, London).

Cally-Jo has worked with fine artist, tattoo artist and good friend Lal Hardy in New Wave Tattoo Studio, North London. She collaborated with Hardy to create a winged vintage microphone design on limited editions of the One (M8) phone, which were awarded to finalists at the British MOBO music awards. The wings symbolized freedom in both music and art.

Cally-Jo partnered with supermodel Jourdan Dunn to create a design that is featured on the device Limited Edition HTC One M9 INK In an interview with HTC INK, the artist said that the project interested her because mobile technology is an important aspect of her life.

Cally-Jo currently lives in New York. where she models and runs a tattoo studio in Grit N Glory, NY with Megan Massacre.

Personal life

Cally-Jo is in a relationship with Justin Nace, drummer of the rock band PVRIS.
