Carly Paoli (born January 28, 1989) is a Classical mezzo-soprano singer-songwriter born in Mansfield, Nottinghamshire,[1] England. In May 2016, Paoli released her debut album Ave Maria - Single.
After her appearance at the The David Foster Foundation Miracle Gala in September 2014, she was signed as brand Ambassador by Geneva watchmaker Bedat & Co. In November 2014, Paoli made history as the artist to perform at the International Women's Media Foundation (IWMF) Awards in Los Angeles, hosted by Hollywood actresses Olivia Wilde and Kate Hudson.[2]
In June 2015 Paoli duetted with Three Tenors legend Jose Carreras in a unique performance at Windsor Castle, for Britain's Charles, Prince of Wales.
Paoli was chosen as the voice of Pope Francis's Jubilee Year of Mercy in 2016.[3]
Early life
Paoli grew up in Mansfield and studied at the Rodney School for Performing Arts. She continued her training at The Tring Park School for Performing Arts before completing her musical training with a BA Honours degree in vocal studies at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester, England.[4]
Awards
In 2015, Paoli was awarded a Testimonial from Global Children’s charity UNICEF. In September 2014 Carly was appointed Patron of The When You Wish Upon A Star Foundation.
Career
Carly made her international debut at the David Foster Foundation Miracle Gala in September 2014, through her role as Ambassador for Bedat & Co - Geneve, sharing the stage with artists including Oscar-winner Jennifer Hudson and Aerosmith’s Steven Tyler. In November 2014 Carly made history as the first artist to perform at The International Women’s Media Foundation (IWMF) Awards in Los Angeles, hosted by Hollywood actresses Olivia Wilde and Kate Hudson. Carly’s debut year was rounded off by a series of performances at A Journey Through Time VIII, Asia’s grandest watch and jewellery showcase, held at Starhill Gallery in Kuala Lumpur in December 2014. Carly returned to A Journey Through Time in December 2015 where she headlined the closing ceremony gala dinner. In June 2015 Carly was invited to duet with Three Tenors legend Jose Carreras at Windsor Castle, for Britain’s Prince Charles, The Prince of Wales. Carly was invited back to perform for the Prince and The Duchess of Cornwall at their London residence, St James’ Palace in June 2016 as part of a fundraising event for The Prince’s Trust. It came a month before Carly headlined a one-off night of music at the spectacular Terme di Caracalla in Rome, again alongside Carreras and iconic Italian tenor Andrea Bocelli in July 2015. In September 2015 Carly was invited to perform at The Celebrity Fight Night Gala in Florence with Andrea Bocelli and conductor Zubin Mehta at the event that raised £8.1m for charity. Carly rounded off her year with performances at New York’s Carnegie Hall and Boston’s Jordan Hall. In April 2016 Carly was reunited with legendary producer David Foster who invited her to perform for guests including former world champion Muhammad Ali at Celebrity Fight Night Fundraiser in Phoenix, Arizona. Carly shared the stage with country legends Reba McEntire and Carrie Underwood, who both praised her performances. In April 2016 it was announced that Carly’s debut single, Ave Maria, had been chosen by the Vatican as the official song for the Pope’s Jubilee celebrations. The song, released in May 2016, topped the iTunes classical charts around the world and was followed by a second single, A Time for Mercy. It was announced that Carly’s follow-up single A Time for Mercy would be the official song of the Music for Mercy concert, a one-off event held in the grounds of The Forum in Rome to celebrate the Pope’s Jubilee of Mercy. Carly headlined the concert alongside a global line-up of talent including Andrea Bocelli, Elaine Paige, David Foster and The Tenors. It was the first time permission had been granted for a concert in the grounds of The Forum. Carly’s debut album is due for release in 2017. It will include songs written by Grammy-award winner Walter Afanasieff, who wrote Titanic theme My Heart Will Go On, and Oscar-winning writer Don Black (lyricist), who wrote Born Free (Matt Monro song) and Michael Jackson’s Ben (song).
