Cassine glauca, known as නෙරලු (neralu) in Sinhala, is a species of large tree in the staff vine family, Celastraceae, that is endemic to the islands of Sri Lanka.
Leaves
opposite, oblong, acute base, acute apex, margin shallowly serrate to entire.
Trunk
dichotomously branched; b- warted, thick, brownish gray; Wood - heavy, hard, reddish brown.
Flowers
pale yellowish green; I- numerous, axillary, spreading, paniculate cymes.
Fruits
ovoid, apiculate, glabrous drupe.
Ecology
coastal scrub, monsoon forest.
Uses
leaf, roots- medicinal; Wood -turnery, utensils, cart axils.
