The Central Institute of Technology ( केन्द्रीय प्रौद्योगिकी संस्थान) at Kokrajhar (CITK) is a public engineering institution established by the government of India in 2006.[1][2] It is situated in the north-eastern State of Assam.[3] The Institute is spread across 20acres in the area of Debargaon-Tiniali Patch, Kokrajhar. It is situated nearly 10 km away from Kokrajhar railway station. It is 4 hours journey from Guwahati by taxi, it can be reached from Kolkata, Delhi by various trains .You can find this academic institute nearer to Bodoland University, [Debargaon].

The institute offers bachelor's degree programs in Electronics & Communication Engineering, Computer science Engineering,Information Technology, Instrumentation Engineering, Civil engineering, Food Engineering and Technology and diploma programs in Electronics & telecommunication,Computer science, food processing and technology, Control and instrumentation, Construction Technology & Animation and Multimedia Technology. The intake capacity for the Degree programs are 60 each, for diploma 30 each. Nearly 1,500 students are enrolled in a year.

History

The Institute was established on the 19th of December 2006. The genesis of this Institute was the memorandum of Settlement on Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) signed between the Assam Government, the Government of India and the Bodo Liberation Tigers, on February 10, 2003, in New Delhi. The Institute is an autonomous body registered under the Societies Registration Act., 1860 and functions under a Board of Governors (BOG)

Facilities

Even though all the hostel buildings in the campus are not ready, the Institute has arranged rented houses and maintained separate hostels for boys and girls in different parts of Kokrajhar town apart from two hostels in the Campus. At present there are 12 hostels for boys and 4 for girls with a total intake capacity of 346 boys and 157 girls respectively. With the opening of first year degree classes and the constraints faced by the students especially the outstation students to find accommodation in the town, the Institute is making arrangements for opening more hostels for both boys and girls.

Transport facility

The Institute provides transport for the students and staff. At present the institute has eight buses which ply at regular intervals from 8.00 am in the morning till 5.00 pm in the evening from different parts of Kokrajhar town where our hostels are located to the institute campus. Buses are also provided to take students to different places for industrial training, laboratory classes, picnics etc., outside Kokrajhar whenever required.
