Recording artist
In 1993, Braide recorded his first solo album "Chapter One - Chris Braide" for Polydor Records. The album was produced by Thomas Dolby and Simply Red's Mick Hucknall. In 2014 this album was remastered and released in the UK on Plane Groovy Records[37]
In 1996, Dave Stewart signed Braide to his Warner Brothers backed label Anxious Records who released a single co-written with Chris Difford "If I Hadn't Got You", and second single "Heavenly Rain", followed a year later by the album, Life in a Minor Key,[38] which was co-produced by Braide and David A. Stewart at Electric Lady Studios in New York. The record was released in the US on Atlantic Records and in 2013 a vinyl version was released on Plane Groovy Records.[39][40]
Side projects
Starting in 1993, Braide began a long-running association with Squeeze, singing backing vocals on their album Some Fantastic Place. Braide would continue to work with Squeeze as a session musician on several of their albums, and officially joined the band as their keyboardist for a few months in 1999. He has co-written several tunes with Squeeze lead singer Glenn Tilbrook that have featured on Tilbrook's solo albums; Braide has also collaborated with Squeeze lyricist Chris Difford on other projects.
The band Producers was co-founded by Braide and fellow record producers Trevor Horn and Steve Lipson in 2006. Braide officially left the group in 2008 after relocating to Los Angeles, though he occasionally returned to perform live with them and continued to contribute to their debut album, Made in Basing Street, released in June 2012.
In 2012, Braide completed work with musician Geoff Downes on a project called "Downes Braide Association" (DBA). A full-length album, Pictures of You, was released in November 2012 on Cherry Red Records and a vinyl version on Plane Groovy Records.[41] Classic Rock magazine gave the album rave reviews describing it as "An absolutely stunning piece of work". Their second release "Suburban Ghosts" is due out November 6, 2015.
Human Feel is an album of electro pop produced and performed by Chris Braide and featuring Theophilus London, and Cathy Dennis under the name of Hello Leo. It was released on limited edition yellow vinyl and download in November 2012 on Plane Groovy Records.
