Chemmad (Malayalam: ചെമ്മാട് ) the biggest commercial hub and administrative head quarter of Tirurangadi Taluk, is a fast-growing town in Malappuram district, Kerala, India.[1]

Location

The town is located 7 km (4.3 mi) east of the Parappanangadi Railway station. The Tirurangadi Police Station, Taluk Hospital, Telephone Exchange, Sub Road Transport Office, Mini Civil Station and Tirurangadi Taluk (district administration) offices are all located within Chemmad. Apart from Tirur, it is considered one of the larger trade centres of the western part of the Malappuram District, and has undergone an influx of people from other areas over the last 10 years.

Darul Huda Islamic University

Darul Huda Islamic University (DHIU) is a leading Islamic campus based at Chemmad. There are 24 affiliated madrassas spread over different states of India including the States of Kerala, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, West Bengal and Assam.Panakkad Sayyid Hyder Ali Shihab is the Chancellor, Cherussery Zainuddeen Musliyar the Pro Chancellor and Bahauddeen Muhammed Nadwi the Vice Chancellor.
