Cinemateca Uruguaya
Cinemateca Uruguaya or Uruguayan Cinematheque: it is a non profit civil organization in Uruguay that aims to support and develop the cinema, culture and art in general. This cinematheque is based in Montevideo. It was established in 1958. In 1998, it held 11,500 films.[1]
Its film archive has 9,500 internationals films and 1,600 film works of Uruguayan Cinema. Its areas of activities include:[2]
- Film Preservation, Uruguayan Cinematheque possesses a film archive in temperature controlled vaults where the films are kept at controlled room temperature and humidity, nearby Montevideo.
- School of Cinema, teaches grade, post graduate and non professional courses.
- Cinema promotion through the Cinematheque Video.
- Cinema Museum
- Cinemas: Four venues with Cinemas in Montevideo, Cinemateca 18, Sala Pocitos Hall, Sala Cinemateca and Sala 2.
