The Coastal Line (Chinese: 海岸線; pinyin: Hǎi'àn Xiàn) or the Coast Line (Chinese: 海線; pinyin: Hǎi Xiàn) is a line of the Taiwan Railway Administration in Taiwan. It is 90.2 km long with double track.[1]

History

The line was completed in 1922. There are two routes between Zhunan Station and Changhua Station. They are typically referred as the Coast Line and the Mountain Line.

The Coast Line is designated as the main line while the Mountain Line is officially called Taichung Line. Nonetheless, the traffic and operation standard in the Mountain Line is much heavier than that in the Coast Line, because it passes largest city in central Taiwan, Taichung, and all sections are double-tracked.
