Collingham F.C. are an English football club based in Collingham, Nottinghamshire. The club play in the Central Midlands North Division.
History
Founded in 1887, and sporting the amber and black colours, Collingham Football Club is the only football club in the Nottinghamshire village of Collingham.
Collingham FC celebrated 125 years of unbroken existence in 2012, and has been playing at the Station Road site since 1954. The Station road ground has two full size pitches as well as a 3G MUGA, which was completed in 2014, and is used for both training and junior football matches. The main pitch which is adjacent to the clubhouse is floodlit and has a metal perimeter fence supported by advertising hoardings.
Traditionally, an adult football club, the 80’s and 90’s saw a need for junior football which was a welcome diversion in response to a growing need. However, toward the end of the 20th Century, playing memberships began to fall. A radical overhaul of the junior football side of the club started in 2004 with the introduction of ‘SoccerCubs’, which caters for the coaching of children of 4 years and upwards. Collingham FC now has a large junior membership with teams playing in a range of local junior leagues.
A girls section has also been introduced recently as well as veterans (over 40’s) and latterly walking football has come to Collingham.
Central Midlands
In 1995, a Senior Saturday team was created which joined the Central Midlands League Premier Division.
Having finished 14th in their 1st season promotion to the Supreme Division was clinched the following season by finishing 4th. The following 5 seasons were played out in the Supreme division with a best placed finish of 5th in the 2000/01 season which also included an appearance in the league cup final in which a goal in stoppage time gave Shirebrook Town the trophy in a 1-0 win.[1]
The 2001/02 season saw entry into the FA Vase for the 1st time in the clubs history. The 2nd Qualifiying round match vs Meir KA was played at Station Road on 22nd September 2001, resulting in a 2-1 win for Collingham. Boston Town were the opposition in the 1st round proper on Saturday 20th October, but the cup run come to an end after a 3-2 defeat.
At the end of the 2001/02 season, the team from Collingham was disbanded and it was not until the 2015/16 season that the team returned to this level of football and currently play in the Abacus Lighting Central Midlands Football League South Division.
The facilities have also been hired to Newark Town FC since 2004, who currently play in the Central Midlands Football League North Division.
