Crazy Talk is an American comedy/talk series that debuted in first-run syndication in the United States and Canada on September 14, 2015.[1] In April 2016, only a small pool of repeats aired up until it ended its run on September 9, 2016.
Details
The series, which is hosted by comedian Ben Aaron, is a compilation of outrageous moments contained on conflict talk shows, some court shows, and various reality television programs. Ben occasionally talks to guests and participants about their behind-the-scenes experiences and sharing and commenting on clips, with the host putting a comedic spin on the highlights in front of a studio audience, similar to shows in the same vein such as The Soup.[2]
The half-hour show was created and produced by Maury executive producer Paul Faulhaber, and is taped at the Stamford Media Center in Connecticut, where other shows are produced, including the NBCUniversal triad of conflict talk shows, which includes The Jerry Springer Show, Maury and The Steve Wilkos Show. As such, the program also serves as a companion to the aforementioned conflict talkers, though on many stations it serves as a late-night extension scheduled separately from them.[3]
The show premiered with Bad Girls Club alum Tanisha Thomas as a co-host with Aaron, but she departed the series before the program went on hiatus for the holidays in 2015, and it became a program solely hosted by Aaron.
According to a ratings rundown in March 2016, the program has ended production as of that month (it also timed out to Aaron temporarily moving to the West Coast to support his wife Ginger Zee during her run on season 22 of Dancing with the Stars); that month also saw severe downgrades of the show in timeslots in many markets to late night.[4] Afterwards, repeats featuring Aaron aired, removing at least 2/3 of the show's run from being aired in encore form. The program's website, which was hosted as a Tumblr blog, has also been removed, along with the show's Twitter account. The show's Facebook presence was last updated on March 13, and the ticketing website for NBCU's talk show programming based in Stamford has also removed any mention of Crazy Talk.[5]
