Dagmar Dyck

Dagmar Vaikalafi Dyck (born 1972) is a New Zealand artist of Tongan and German descent.[1] Dyck's prints and paintings are often inspired by her cultural heritage and explore textile practices of Tonga.[2] Dyck completed a Bachelor for Fine Arts through Elam School of Fine Arts in 1994 and a Post-Graduate Diploma of Fine Arts in 1995. She was the first women of Tongan descent to do so.[3] In 2014 Dyck received the Contemporary Artist Award at the Creative New Zealand Arts Pasifika Awards.[4]
