Damariscotta Lake State Park is a state-operated, public recreation area in the New England town of Jefferson, Lincoln County, Maine, in the state's Mid Coast region. The park's 19 acres (7.7 ha) located at the northeast corner of 12-mile-long (19 km) Damariscotta Lake offer a sandy beach, swimming, canoeing, and picnicking facilities.[4] The park was created in 1970 and, as of 2011, was one of Maine's most visited state parks. A group shelter that had stood for 33 years in the park before being destroyed by vandalism in 2009 was rebuilt and reopened 2011.[3]
