Darshan Doshi (born 16 January 1986) is an Indian musician and drummer, who played with various musical groups, currently with Farhan Akhtar's band "Farhan Live" as a drummer.[1][2] He has also worked with various music directors on Bollywood film scores. Based in Mumbai, Doshi started performing at age of two. Over the years he has toured world over with globally known artists and worked with leading musicians of Hindi film industry. He established his name in Limca Book of Records as the youngest drummer of India in 1997.[3][4] He is most known as the drummer in the hit rock-musical film, Rock On!! (2008) film soundtrack.[4]
He also performs regularly on MTV India's live shows like MTV Unplugged and Coke Studio.[4]
Early life and training
Born to Shailesh and Surbhi Doshi in Mumbai, his father was his first Guru. Later, Darshan got trained in Drums from the Greats Like Taufiq Qureshi, Ranjit Barot etc. Also his younger brother Umang Doshi who plays keyboards with Arijit Singh , Farhan Akhtar.
Career
In 1997, his name was entered in the Limca Book of Records as the youngest drummer of India.[3][4]
Darshan has played drum set for the movie 'Black'. He played percussion and drums for Paheli, and Ram Gopal Varma's Sarkar, apart from movies like 'London Dreams', 'Tere Sang', 'Dhoom 2', 'Johnny Gaddar', 'Rock On!!'. Over the years he has worked with music directors like Shankar–Ehsaan–Loy, Anu Malik, N M Kareem, Sandesh Sandhaliya, Salim Suleiman, Pritam, Vishal & Shekhar, Raghav Sachar[3][5] Most notably he was original drummer for the film Rock On!! (2008).[4]
He has also performed on MTV India's live music performance series, Coke Studio[3] & MTV Unplugged
Darshan has also been associated with bands like – “Fuzonica", "Aakruti", "Defying Gravity", "Tapasya", & "Nakshatra".
Currently, he is working with music trio Shankar, Ehsaan & Loy as a rhythmist. In December 2011, he was part of their 12-piece band which toured Middle-East and performed at Abu Dhabi[1]
