Datari Turner Productions is a California based film and television production company with offices at Paramount Studios in Hollywood, California. Datari Turner Productions recently signed a Distribution deal with Lions Gate Entertainment arm Codeblack.

Overview

Datari Turner Productions was founded in 2010 by Datari Turner. By 2011 and 2012, Datari Turner had produced a total of eleven films. “Another Happy Day” and “Salvation Boulevard” both premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in 2011. LUV premiered at Sundance Film Festival in 2012 and Ten Thousand Saints in 2015 making Turner the first African American producer to have four films premiere at the prestigious festival in five years. From 2010 to Date, Datari Turner has produced a total of 20 films, making him one of the most prolific independent producers working today. The website Celebrity Net worth listed Turners net worth at 10 Million but Forbes.com estimated the number to be closer to 35 Million.

Films/Television

“Another Happy Day” starred Hollywood heavy weights Demi Moore, Ellen Barkin and Oscar winner Ellen Burstyn. “Salvation Boulevard” starred Oscar Winners Marisa Tomei and Jennifer Connolly in addition to A-List veterans Pierce Brosnan and Ed Harris. Turner produced, co-starred, and wrote the film “Video Girl” starring Meagan Good and Ruby Dee.

"LUV,” produced by Turner, starring Rapper/Actor Common, Danny Glover, and Dennis Haysbert, premiered at the Sundance Film Festival to rave reviews and opened in theaters across the country in January 2013.

"About Cherry" starring Academy Award nominee James Franco. “About Cherry” premiered at the 62nd Annual Berlin Festival to critical acclaim.

"Ten Thousand Saints" is an upcoming 2015 American drama film written and directed by Shari Springer Berman and Robert Pulcini. It is based on the novel of the same name by Eleanor Henderson. The film stars Asa Butterfield, Ethan Hawke, Hailee Steinfeld, Emile Hirsch & Emily Mortimer. The film premiered at the 2015 Sundance Film Festival on January 23, 2015.

Other films include the popular indie comedy “Dysfunctional Friends “which premiered at both the SXSW and the American Black Film Festival. The film “Another Happy Day” won the prestigious Waldo Salt Award for Best Screenplay.[1] The 20 films that Datari Turner has been a producer on have been nominated for 98 Film Festival Awards. Turner has worked with four Academy Award Winners (Common, Jennifer Connolly, Marisa Tomei, Ellen Burstyn) and Twelve Academy Award Nominees (Ethan Hawke, James Franco, Ruby Dee, Thomas Haden Church, Mariel Hemingway, Stanley Tucci, Ed Harris, Hailee Steinfeld, Common, Jennifer Connolly, Marisa Tomei, Ellen Burstyn.
