David Guttenfelder
David Guttenfelder (born 1969) is an American photographer from Iowa, chief Asia photographer for the Associated Press, known for his photos of North Korea.
Life
Guttenfelder was born in Iowa.[1] He is a graduate of the University of Iowa.[2] He studied Swahili at the University of Dar es Salaam, and was a freelance photographer in East Africa.[3]
He is known for his photos of North Korea.[4][5][2][6][7]
As of 2012, he was the Chief Asia Photographer for the Associated Press.[7] He lives in Tokyo.[3]
Awards
- 2009: Public Prize (Reader's Award) (along with four others), Days Japan International Photojournalism Awards.[8]
- 2012: Time magazine Instagram photo of the year.[9]
- 2012: Finalist, 2012 Pulitzer Prize in Feature Photography.[10]
- 2013: Infinity Award from the International Center of Photography.[11]
