Decimal (unit)
A decimal (also spelled decimel) is a unit of area in India and Bangladesh approximately equal to 1/100 acre (40.46 m²). After metrication in the mid-20th century by both countries, the unit became officially obsolete. Especially among the rural population in Northern Bangladesh and West Bengal, it is still in use. 1 decimal in Bihar equals to 435 sq feet.[1][2][3]
The unit is also commonly used in Uganda, especially in urban areas where land-sales are booming and traded plots are getting smaller and smaller.
