Devonshire Close
Devonshire Close is a mews street in the City of Westminster, London, on the south side of Devonshire Street. The street is on an H plan with a middle downwards leg.
Second World War
A house in Devonshire Close was one of a number in the Marylebone area used by men of Operation Jedburgh during the Second World War before they were dropped behind enemy lines in occupied Europe to carry out sabotage and assist local resistance movements. Special Force Headquarters had offices in nearby Montagu Mansions, and the Special Operations Executive was located in Baker Street, also close by.[1]
