Diego Saraiva (born April 23, 1982 in Fortaleza, Ceará) is a Brazilian mixed martial artist. He competes in the Palace Fighting Championship as well as other promotions in the lightweight and featherweight divisions.

Mixed martial arts career

Diego Saraiva has a professional mixed martial arts record of 21-16-1. He is notable for never having been knocked out or submitted in a fight and his 0-3 run in the UFC. However, Saraiva was undefeated after dropping down to Featherweight, going 4-0 with two stoppages.

Ultimate Fighting Championship

Saraiva made his UFC debut against Dustin Hazelett at UFC 67 on February 3, 2007. Though he was the favorite coming into the fight, Saraiva would lose via unanimous decision.[3] He then faced BJJ black belt Jorge Gurgel at UFC 73 on July 7, 2007. Saraiva lost the fight via unanimous decision, but both would earn "Fight of the Night" honors for their performance.[4]

In his third fight with the promotion, Saraiva faced Jeremy Stephens at UFC 76 on September 22, 2007. Saraiva lost the bout via unanimous decision, and was subsequently released from the promotion.

Bellator MMA

Saraiva made his Bellator debut on May 20, 2010, facing former Bellator Featherweight Championship Joe Soto in a non-title bout at Bellator 19.[5] He lost the fight via cut-stoppage TKO after the first round.

Post-Bellator career

Saraiva faced UFC vet Eddie Yagin in a rematch at Tachi Palace Fights 19: Throwback Thursday on June 19, 2014.[6] He won the fight via unanimous decision.[7]
