It is located in the outer south-eastern suburbs of Melbourne, including Cranbourne, Doveton, Hampton Park, Endeavour Hills, Narre Warren, and Hallam. Although it has usually been held by the Australian Labor Party, after the 2004 election it was highly marginal, but it returned to its safe status after the 2007 election.
