Edison Building (Falconbridge)

The Edison Building is a 1960s office building in the outskirts of Greater Sudbury, Ontario. Located at 5 Lindsley Street in the community of Falconbridge, the building was constructed in 1969 as the head office for Falconbridge Ltd.'s operations in the Sudbury area. The building was named after Thomas Edison, who was credited with the original ore discovery in the Falconbridge area.

Originally built with 27,000 square feet (2,500 m2) of office space, the building was expanded to 38,000 square feet (3,500 m2) in 1995.

Falconbridge Ltd. was taken over by Swiss mining company Xstrata in 2006. On June 28, 2007, Xstrata donated the building, along with $110,000 to cover the cost of renovations and upgrades, to the City of Greater Sudbury to serve as the new home of the city archives.[1]
